Jan Allen Baughman is a general practice attorney with more than 28 years of experience serving individuals, families, businesses, financial institutions, and local governments throughout Muskingum and Perry County and across Ohio. Her practice includes real estate, probate and estate planning, adoption, business law, landlord/tenant matters, municipal law, banking, and collections.
Jan believes legal guidance should be clear, practical, and accessible. Known for explaining complex legal issues in plain language, she helps clients understand their options and make informed decisions with confidence. Her client-centered approach is shaped in part by her early career as a middle school math and science teacher, a foundation that continues to influence her work today.
Jan is the Managing Partner at Allen & Baughman Attorneys at Law and the owner of ABC Title Agency, LLC. In addition to private practice, she has spent decades serving local communities as village solicitor and prosecutor and as retained counsel for banks and public entities, giving her a well-rounded perspective across both private and public-sector matters.
Jan earned her Juris Doctor, summa cum laude, from Capital University Law School, where she served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review and was published. She is admitted to practice in Ohio and in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
Deeply committed to the legal profession and public service, Jan serves on the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association and is President-Elect for the 2025–2026 term. Having grown up and worked in Southeastern Ohio, Jan values professionalism, community involvement, and building long-term relationships with the clients and communities she serves. Outside of her practice, Jan enjoys time with her family and traveling.
